Club Med

Wednesday, February 21, 2007

I’m starting to feel bad again so I’m going in and get a tune-up for a couple of weeks. I’m going in on Friday the 23rd. I’ll let you know what’s going on when I get in there. My chest is starting to feel heavy and my shoulder is starting to ache. So I guess its time to go get a tune-up. I’ll keep you updated when I find out more.

Club Med

Wednesday, February 7, 2007

Well I’m home after 12 days in Club Med. I came home on IV’S for the remaining 2 days. I learned how to set up my own IV’S at home. A home health care company came in and showed me how to hook up and flush my IV’S. It’s kind of a pain but it’s worth not staying in the hospital. I’ll be going back to NY in March to meet with the team. This hospitalization should change a few things. I’m getting tried of waiting. I would really like to get this over with so I can move on with things. I’ll keep you updated when we get back from New York.

Visit to Transplant Center

Tuesday, February 6, 2007

Brian & I went to NYC to meet with the team. They said that my lung function was up from May but down from a year ago. I am still to healthy to be on the active transplant list, but to them that’s a good thing. That means I need to wait a little longer. This time was just a check up. Next time I’ll have all my yearly tests. So I’ll be at the hospital longer. I told them that I retired on the 29th of Dec and they thought that was great. I told them that I wasn’t sure if it was good or not. Brian and I visited about six or seven firehouse while we were there. We left the

Retirement

Monday, January 1, 2007

Well I finally retired, as I like to call it. Dec 29th was my last day of work. We went to apply for Disability and that is a chore in itself. We did all the paperwork at the social security office and they send it off for review. This could take up to three months. Once they make a decision, there is a 5 month waiting period
before we get our first payment. I’m not sure that I’m going to like staying home all the time. I liked my job and it was real hard to leave. I’m sure that I’ll find things to do to stay busy. ( Amy & Annie are doing a good job at that.) More Details (120 word(s) in story, 0 Comment(s))

New York City

Wednesday, November 1, 2006

As you read I was in Club Med again and have gone to Columbia again to meet with the team. I had explained to them that I had been in the hospital twice in 8 weeks, and that I was feeling bad again. They gave me a stress test. It was really hard, they put me on a bike and I had to pedal until I couldn’t pedal anymore. They hooked me up to all kinds of computers and machines. There was one that monitored my breathing and one that monitored my heart rate. They told me that I needed to give them a one-minute warning when I needed to stop. I did really well on the test. I don’t know if
